Sojourn Campus Church has been on the University of Minnesota campus for over 25+ years. It started as a student group and evolved into a campus-based church.
A few years ago we realized that we needed to rebirth the student vision of our church. As we prayed and thought through what needed to happen, we realized that this was not a case of mere “refocus” or some improvement. We needed to reorient the culture of the church to target, involve and raise up students. As we began to talk about the need for change, students and campus staff were excited and joined the effort. We changed our name from “Christians In Action University Church” to “Sojourn Campus Church”. But this was more than a mere change of name…
The changes:
The name: Sojourn Campus Church
“Sojourn”: to travel somewhere not your home
We sojourn in two senses;
1. This life and especially the college season, is a temporary season. We are passing through. It is a short time to be seized for all the opportunity that is present.
2. We sojourn as well as residents of another country. No matter our nation or ethnic background, this world is not our home. We live as sojourners in a foreign country. This reminds us to keep our roots in heaven (1 Peter 2:9-12).
Join us on our sojourn to our permanent city in Christ!
