do you:
write, journal, sing, dream, jot, compose, construct, or create? then you should come!

do you ever:
get writer’s block, hate what you write, have a hard time finding the right word, get frustrated, get excited, feel like you need a safe place to share your work, or feel like you’re on the verge of something SO much bigger than yourself? Then you should come!

anyone who has ever, or who could someday ever see themselves trying to create something with words should come. your are welcome. and this is for you.

Any questions, let me know! 612-209-7988.

Recent Announcements and Church Needs

Jaci July 22nd, 2008

Hi friends–Jaci Here!

So in light of Summer being the time when everyone scatters to the four corners of the earth…or to the mountains like the Kruegers….I thought I might write an update of church happenings and needs.

first, and most exciting, Campus Journey, planned by our most incredible director, Greg Silker, and administrative royalty, Julie Manthey,  is hosting n Open-House style dessert banquet at Bordertown Coffee on Sunday, August 17th from 5-9 p.m. Everyone is invited and you should also invite others to come too! Students: Invite your parents, your friends; Adults: bring your families, call your neighbor, or invite your coworker! This event is all about supporting Campus Missions and Chi Alpha! And we DO want to support because we know that God wants to be known and worshiped on campus and we want to be a part of what He is doing! So come!

In other news, there are three more Oasis/Church BBQs left! They are happening Thursday, July 24th at the Zwillings’ home and August 7th and 21st location tbd. They start at 6:00 p.m. Bring something to grill and a dish or dessert to share!

Our Semi-annual business meeting will be Sunday, August 17th after service. Stay and learn about Sojourn’s finances and business side! We’re encouraging everyone to come so that we are an informed, prayerful church body as we move into the Fall season.

Finally, with the business meeting, comes another matter of finances. We need to fix a nasty pipe on our boiler that, as it turns out, is very expensive. Our treasurer, Iris, made an announcement last Sunday seeking financial help in paying for this large expense. Please email me or call me at the church if you’re interested in or have questions about the details of this project!!!!!! Contact@sojourncampuschurch.net or 612-379-1200.  We would ask that your prayerfully consider giving to this new “building project” we have. Unfortunately, this is not a repair we can postpone as it could be much worse if we wait through winter where we risk having the pipe actually burst–leaving us without heat in the building for a considerable length of time.

Thank you so much for your continued giving to the various projects, ministries, people, and endeavors Sojourn has sponsored and supported over the years, but especially in the last months–Compassion International, Samaritan’s Purse China Earthquake Relief, Shelter for Life, and our host of diverse and gifted campus pastors, ministries, and missionaries! You are the ones that help give feet to the dreams God has given these people and organizations!

feel free to contact me at any time if you need updates or have church questions :)

love

Jaci

Identity and Intimacy in Christ: A Series on Sexuality

gsilker February 3rd, 2008

In anticipation for a four-week series on sexuality beginning February 10th, we would like to see everyone take advantage of this wonderful website Ashok has set up.  We have blog capability so that people can post questions or comments relating the specific Sunday topics or to other aspects of sexuality online! All you have to do is make a username and password! It’s that easy! Email Jaci at contact@sojourncampuschurch.net with what you would like your username and password to be and she will set it up for you!

This series is not meant to be a lecture, but a coming together of community. Because of this, we ask that everyone submit questions or comments either online or on paper that will be passed around at the beginning of services the next few weeks and collected in offering baskets placed around the sanctuary.  You can also find Jaci in the office after service and set up usernames and passwords then. These questions and comments will be used and addressed in several panel discussion that will be occurring weeks 2, 3, and 4 of the series.

Week One: Broken Sexuality and Images of Hope

Week Two: Identity: Living as Men and Women in Christ

Week Three: The Inner World: Temptations, Lusts, and Victories

Week Four: How Jesus Heals: Finding Freedom in Him.

Please submit questions or comments relating to these topics or to other issues of sexuality you see as important or crucial to your life or to your peers. These coming weeks will be both intense and liberating. We need to come together as a body to lift one another up and to help meet the needs of the Sojourn Community!

Come with an open mind and heart! See what God is working in our individual and community lives!

The new website!

Ashok August 29th, 2007

Hello everyone! This is Ashok, and I just wanted to introduce you to your church’s new website. In designing this website two main goals are being addressed:

  1. To provide an easily accessible site for information about our church - both for our new visitors who want to find out what kind of church we are, and for our community to keep abreast of happenings. There are photos, a calendar, sermons archives, contact forms etc to meet this need. Christie, our church administrator will be updating this site regularly with details of announcements, events, and prayer requests - so keep an eye on this site!
  2. The 2nd goal was to create a place of expression and interaction for our community. The website is designed as a blog so that you can share your thoughts and comments (and pictures!) and interact with what others are saying…. “What did you like about last week’s sermon?” (Keep what you didn’t like for face-talk!). “What made you laugh (or cry) this week?”, “What new heresy can we start?” (just kidding!)

This site will only be as good as you make it. So email Christie and get your user id, so that you too can “blog”, and get with it!

P.S “blog? what in the world is that?” you ask… here’s a link - “a kinda technical intro”. On the other hand, maybe you can learn faster by just doing it! Why not give it a try?
